# Coreload vs Blacksmith
The section "What Blacksmith publishes" quotes Blacksmith's own pages, with a link to each page and the date we read it. The
other sections are ours. On Coreload you change a job's `runs-on` label, so you can move one job at a time and keep the
rest on Blacksmith.

## Measured

- At 2 vCPU, Blacksmith's single-thread speed was 0.63× Coreload's and its all-core speed per vCPU 0.87×, the median of 3 runs, measured 2026-11-04.
- Coreload's 2-vCPU runner exposed 3 vCPUs to the job, so these ratios compare per vCPU.
- Linux v6.12 kernel build, as shipped at 2 vCPU: Coreload took 1.31× as long as Blacksmith (498 s against 380 s), the median of 5 runs each, measured 2026-11-05.
- Linux v6.12 kernel build, one build per Coreload machine at 2 vCPU: Coreload 508 s, 1.34× Blacksmith's as shipped median of 380 s; Blacksmith was not run in this arm, so that ratio compares separate runs. The median of 5 runs, measured 2026-11-05.

The method, every run and the raw data are on the [benchmarks page](https://coreload.com/benchmarks/). Blacksmith was measured with our own Blacksmith account.

## Move a job

Install the GitHub App, then change the job's `runs-on` from its Blacksmith label to ours. The
[migration guide](https://coreload.com/migrate/blacksmith/) shows which Blacksmith sizes have a Coreload size today and which are
coming.

## Coreload's price

Per minute, for each size, from the same rates as the [pricing page](https://coreload.com/pricing/):

| `runs-on:` | Machine | Price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `coreload-2` | 2 vCPU · 7 GiB | $0.00114 / min |
| `coreload-4` | 4 vCPU · 12 GiB | $0.00228 / min |
| `coreload-8` | 8 vCPU · 32 GiB | $0.00418 / min |
| `coreload-16` | coming | — |

**Billing starts when prepaid credit opens; until then nothing is charged.**

Each size's machine is on [Sizes](https://coreload.com/sizes/).
